Location

Native to Africa, the Zebra Nerite Snail thrives in slow-moving rivers and streams. It is well-suited for aquarium environments that replicate these calm, clean waters, where it can safely graze on algae and biofilm.

Diet

As a herbivore, the Zebra Nerite Snail primarily feeds on algae growing on the surfaces of the aquarium. It also enjoys consuming leftover fish food and decaying plant matter, helping to keep the tank clean. Supplement their diet with algae wafers for optimal health.

Care

This snail thrives in water temperatures ranging from 22°C to 28°C and a pH of 7.0 to 8.0. Zebra Nerite Snails are sensitive to copper, so be sure to avoid copper-based medications. Regular water changes and stable parameters are essential for keeping them healthy.

Habitat

To create an ideal habitat for Zebra Nerite Snails, use a fine substrate like sand or gravel and include decorations such as rocks, plants, and driftwood. These snails enjoy climbing on surfaces like aquarium glass and decorations. Be sure to cover the tank, as they may occasionally escape if the waterline is not sealed.

Breeding

Breeding Zebra Nerite Snails in freshwater is rare, as they typically require brackish conditions to reproduce. They may leave small white eggs on rocks, wood or glass, but these will not hatch in freshwater, so nerite snails will never overrun your tank.

We take care to ensure your order arrives in excellent condition and ready to settle into your aquarium. All orders are shipped with tracking, and the cut-off time for same-day dispatch is 4 pm.

Orders containing dry goods, shrimp, snails or plants are dispatched Monday to Friday via Royal Mail for fast, reliable delivery. Livestock, in particular live fish and invertebrates, are dispatched Monday to Wednesday only, using an approved overnight courier, to avoid weekend delays and ensure safe and timely delivery.

Track Your Order

You will receive a tracking number by email when we begin processing your order for shipping. The selected courier will provide updates on delivery only through their tracking page.

During colder weather, heat packs are added when needed. Livestock orders are carefully packed in insulated boxes to help maintain a stable temperature throughout transit.
