Yellow Fire Shrimp are a vibrant and striking addition to any freshwater aquarium, known for their bright yellow colouration. Our yellow shrimp for sale not only enhance the beauty of your tank but also serve a practical purpose by feeding on algae, detritus and organic waste, helping to keep your aquarium clean.
Location
Yellow Fire Shrimp are a selectively bred colour form of Neocaridina davidi, whose wild ancestors come from streams in Taiwan and southern China. They thrive in clean, stable water conditions. In aquariums, they prefer environments that replicate their natural habitat, with clear water and surfaces for grazing.
Diet
Yellow Fire Shrimp are primarily detritivores, feeding on algae, biofilm, and decaying organic matter. They will also scavenge leftover food in the tank. To ensure their health and vibrant colouration, supplement their diet with high quality shrimp pellets, algae wafers, and blanched vegetables like spinach or courgette.
Care
These shrimp require stable water conditions, with a temperature range of 22°C to 28°C and a pH of 6.5 to 7.5. Regular water changes are essential for maintaining their health. Avoid using medications containing copper, as copper is toxic to shrimp.
Habitat
To create an ideal habitat for your Yellow Fire Shrimp, use a soft substrate like sand or fine gravel. Live plants, driftwood, and rocks are beneficial for grazing and hiding. These shrimp prefer low water currents, so ensure your filtration system provides a gentle flow.
Breeding
Breeding Yellow Fire Shrimp is relatively easy when kept in optimal conditions. Females carry their eggs under their abdomen until they hatch into tiny shrimp, which are independent and start foraging on biofilm and detritus immediately.

Had to acclimatise quicker than I would normally, (took two hours) ammonia level on arrival was 2.0 ppm, few days later none can be seen in Shrimp and Snail only tank.
Not sure if I would buy through the post again.
