Location

Found in the Amazon River basin, Rummy Nose Tetra originates from the warm, slow flowing waters of South America. They thrive in aquariums that replicate their natural environment, with soft, slightly acidic water and plenty of plants.

Diet

Rummy Nose Tetra are omnivores and enjoy a varied diet. They will readily consume high quality flake foods, pellets, and live or frozen foods like brine shrimp and daphnia. A balanced diet ensures they stay healthy and maintain their beautiful colouration.

Care

This species prefers a temperature range between 24 and 28°C and slightly acidic to neutral pH levels. Regular water changes and good filtration are essential to keeping the Rummy Nose Tetra healthy, as they are sensitive to poor water quality. Keep them in groups of six or more. Their red head fades when they are stressed or water quality drops, giving you an early warning.

Habitat

Rummy Nose Tetra thrive in aquariums that offer soft, slightly acidic water and a well planted environment. They prefer calm, peaceful tanks and should be kept with other non-aggressive species. Adding hiding places like rocks and driftwood will help them feel secure.

Breeding

Breeding can be challenging but is possible with the right conditions. To encourage breeding, provide soft, slightly acidic water and ensure the tank is well maintained. With proper care, these fish can breed successfully in a dedicated tank.

We take care to ensure your order arrives in excellent condition and ready to settle into your aquarium. All orders are shipped with tracking, and the cut-off time for same-day dispatch is 4 pm.

Orders containing dry goods, shrimp, snails or plants are dispatched Monday to Friday via Royal Mail for fast, reliable delivery. Livestock, in particular live fish and invertebrates, are dispatched Monday to Wednesday only, using an approved overnight courier, to avoid weekend delays and ensure safe and timely delivery.

Track Your Order

You will receive a tracking number by email when we begin processing your order for shipping. The selected courier will provide updates on delivery only through their tracking page.

During colder weather, heat packs are added when needed. Livestock orders are carefully packed in insulated boxes to help maintain a stable temperature throughout transit.
