Peppered Corydoras (Corydoras paleatus) is a peaceful freshwater fish known for its distinctive spotted, peppered pattern. Our peppered corydoras for sale grow to around 6 to 7cm. This species is an excellent addition to community aquariums, as it helps maintain a clean substrate by scavenging leftover food, though they still need sinking food of their own.
Location
Native to South America, Peppered Corydoras is found in the slow flowing rivers and streams of Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay. It thrives in warm waters with minimal flow.
Diet
This species is omnivorous and enjoys a varied diet, including sinking pellets and wafers, live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, and some vegetable matter.
Care
Peppered Corydoras is easy to care for, preferring water temperatures between 20 and 26°C. They are peaceful and happiest in groups of six or more, which makes them suitable for community tanks with other calm species.
Habitat
In its natural environment, this species inhabits soft, slightly acidic waters with plenty of plants and hiding spots. Recreate this habitat in your aquarium with plants, fine sand or smooth gravel to protect their sensitive barbels, and gentle filtration.
Breeding
Breeding this species requires stable water conditions. The female sticks the eggs to the aquarium glass or plant leaves, and a cool water change often triggers spawning. Move the eggs or fry to a separate tank, as adults may eat them.
Mix them with other corys such as albino corydoras or panda corydoras, or browse all our corydoras. Buy more and save, with multi-buy discounts from 5 fish.
