Panda Corydoras (Corydoras panda), often called the panda cory or panda catfish, are adorable, peaceful catfish named for their distinctive black markings that resemble a panda’s face and body. Our panda corys for sale are small freshwater bottom dwellers that reach around 5cm fully grown, perfect for community aquariums and bringing both charm and helpful cleaning habits to the tank floor.
Location
Native to the rivers of Peru in South America, Panda Corydoras inhabit cool, fast-flowing waters in the Andean foothills. Their natural environment includes sandy substrates, smooth stones, and plenty of oxygenated water.
Diet
Panda Corydoras are omnivorous scavengers. In captivity, they thrive on a balanced diet of sinking pellets, algae wafers, and occasional live or frozen treats like bloodworms and brine shrimp. A varied diet helps maintain their energy and colouration.
Care
These fish are relatively hardy but prefer stable conditions with temperatures between 20°C and 25°C. They do best in soft, slightly acidic water and appreciate regular water changes. Avoid sharp gravel, as their barbels are sensitive and prone to damage.
Habitat
Panda Corydoras are highly social and should be kept in groups of six or more. Provide plenty of hiding spots using plants, driftwood, or smooth décor. Their playful, active nature makes them fun to observe as they school together along the substrate.
Breeding
To breed Panda Corydoras, simulate the rainy season by slightly lowering the temperature and increasing water changes. They lay adhesive eggs on glass or leaves. Once eggs are laid, it’s best to separate them from adults to avoid predation.

I ordered 10 panda corydoras from CU Aquatics and was a little nervous about having live fish delivered, but they all arrived safely and soon started forming a little gang, snuffling around in the sand. They are so lovely to watch!
The only downside was the delivery timing. It was meant to be a morning delivery but arrived at 1.15pm, which was stressful as we were travelling that afternoon. Something to bear in mind if you’re arranging your day around their arrival.
Very happy with the pandas themselves 🐼
