Pakistani Yoyo Loach, also known as the yoyo loach or Pakistani loach, is a lively and attractive freshwater fish, known for its unique pattern and energetic behaviour. Its dark markings often form shapes that look like the letters Y and O, which give it its name. Our yoyo loaches for sale grow to around 10 to 12cm, making them a fascinating addition to larger aquariums.
Location
Native to the rivers and streams of South Asia, including Pakistan, northern India and Nepal, the Pakistani Yoyo Loach thrives in clear, flowing tropical freshwater. It is a tropical fish and needs a heated indoor aquarium.
Diet
The Pakistani Yoyo Loach is an omnivore, feeding on a wide variety of foods. It enjoys sinking pellets, live or frozen foods such as bloodworms and brine shrimp, and algae. A varied diet will ensure it remains healthy and active in your aquarium. They also eat small pest snails, so they help keep snail numbers down, but keep them away from snails you want to keep.
Care
These loaches prefer water temperatures between 24 and 28°C and a pH level of 6.5 to 7.5. Regular water changes and good filtration are essential to maintain healthy water conditions, as they are sensitive to poor water quality. Yoyo loaches are social and can squabble, so keep them in groups of five or more.
Habitat
Pakistani Yoyo Loaches are active swimmers that require ample space to move around in the aquarium. A tank with plenty of hiding places, such as rocks or plants, is ideal for this species. They do well in community tanks with other peaceful fish that match their activity level.
Breeding
Breeding the Pakistani Yoyo Loach in captivity is rare, as it requires specific water conditions and a proper breeding environment. They are egg scatterers, and breeding usually occurs in large aquariums with mature males and females under the right conditions.
