Orange Rabbit Snail is a striking freshwater snail known for its vivid orange body and elongated spiral shell. Sometimes called bunny snails because their long feelers resemble rabbit ears, our rabbit snails for sale are popular among aquarists, offering both beauty and function by naturally helping to control algae in planted aquariums.
Location
Native to Sulawesi, Indonesia, the Orange Rabbit Snail (Tylomelania) inhabits lakes rich in minerals with warm, stable water conditions. These snails are often found along sandy or muddy lakebeds where they graze for food.
Diet
They feed on algae, leftover fish food, and soft plant matter. Supplement their diet with algae wafers, blanched vegetables like courgette, and calcium sources to promote strong shell growth.
Care
Ideal water parameters include a temperature range of 24°C to 28°C and a pH between 7.5 and 8.3. Avoid medications containing copper, which can be harmful to snails. A clean tank with stable conditions supports their long-term health.
Habitat
Aquariums with sandy or fine gravel substrates, live plants, and hiding spots like driftwood and rocks make ideal homes. Orange Rabbit Snails are peaceful, making them great additions to community tanks with non-aggressive tank mates.
Breeding
They reproduce slowly, giving birth to one live young at a time. Breeding in captivity is possible under the right water conditions. Their low reproduction rate makes them manageable for most aquarists.
