Honey Dwarf Gourami is a small and peaceful freshwater fish, known for its vibrant golden yellow colouration and gentle nature. Our honey gourami for sale (Trichogaster chuna) grow to just 5cm, making them ideal for smaller aquariums and a great addition to peaceful community tanks.
Location
Native to the slow flowing streams and rivers of South Asia, particularly India and Bangladesh, the Honey Dwarf Gourami thrives in warm, soft water conditions. They are best kept in aquariums that mimic their natural habitat, with plenty of plants and hiding spots.
Diet
Honey Dwarf Gourami are omnivores and will accept a wide variety of foods, including high quality flakes, pellets, and live or frozen foods like brine shrimp and daphnia. A balanced diet helps maintain their health and vibrant colour.
Care
This species prefers warm water temperatures between 24 and 28°C and slightly acidic to neutral pH levels. Regular water changes and good filtration are essential for the well-being of Honey Dwarf Gourami, as they are sensitive to poor water quality.
Habitat
Honey Dwarf Gourami thrive in well planted aquariums with soft, slightly acidic water. They enjoy calm environments with plenty of hiding places, such as rocks and plants. They are peaceful and do well with other non-aggressive species in a community tank.
Breeding
Breeding Honey Dwarf Gourami in captivity can be rewarding. They create bubble nests on the water’s surface where the female lays her eggs. After fertilisation, the male guards the nest until the eggs hatch. With proper care, breeding is achievable in a well maintained tank.
