Location

Native to the Orinoco river basin in Venezuela and Colombia, the German Blue Ram thrives in warm, soft waters. They are best kept in aquariums that replicate their natural habitat with plenty of hiding spots and live plants.

Diet

German Blue Rams are omnivorous, enjoying a varied diet that includes high-quality flakes, pellets, and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp and bloodworms. A balanced diet is essential to maintaining their vibrant colour and overall health.

Care

These cichlids prefer stable water conditions with temperatures between 26 to 30°C and slightly acidic to neutral water. Regular water changes and good filtration are important, as the German Blue Ram is sensitive to water quality.

Habitat

German Blue Rams thrive in aquariums with soft, slightly acidic water, ample plants, and hiding places like rocks and driftwood. They are peaceful and do best in community tanks with other non-aggressive species.

Breeding

Breeding in captivity is achievable with the right conditions. They typically lay their eggs on flat surfaces such as leaves or rocks, and both parents will guard the eggs until they hatch. With proper care, breeding is possible in a well-maintained tank.

We take care to ensure your order arrives in excellent condition and ready to settle into your aquarium. All orders are shipped with tracking, and the cut-off time for same-day dispatch is 4 pm.

Orders containing dry goods, shrimp, snails or plants are dispatched Monday to Friday via Royal Mail for fast, reliable delivery. Livestock, in particular live fish and invertebrates, are dispatched Monday to Wednesday only, using an approved overnight courier, to avoid weekend delays and ensure safe and timely delivery.

You will receive a tracking number by email when we begin processing your order for shipping. The selected courier will provide updates on delivery only through their tracking page.

During colder weather, heat packs are added when needed. Livestock orders are carefully packed in insulated boxes to help maintain a stable temperature throughout transit.
