Location

The Electric Blue Ram is a captive bred colour form of the ram cichlid, which is native to the Orinoco river basin in Venezuela and Colombia, where it lives in warm, soft, slow flowing waters. In captivity, these fish thrive in aquariums that replicate their natural environment with calm waters and ample hiding places.

Diet

As omnivores, Electric Blue Rams eat a variety of foods, including high quality pellets, flakes, and live or frozen foods like brine shrimp and bloodworms. A varied diet is essential for keeping these fish healthy and maintaining their vibrant colour.

Care

Electric Blue Rams require stable water conditions, including a temperature between 26 and 30°C and slightly acidic to neutral pH. Regular water changes and good filtration are necessary, as they are sensitive to water quality.

Habitat

This species thrives in aquariums with plenty of plants, driftwood, and rocks. Providing hiding spots and a peaceful environment is key to their wellbeing. Electric Blue Rams do best in tanks with other peaceful fish.

Breeding

Breeding Electric Blue Rams can be achieved in well maintained aquariums. The fish typically lay eggs on flat surfaces like leaves or rocks, and both parents guard the eggs until they hatch. With the right conditions, this species can breed successfully in captivity.

Orders containing dry goods, shrimp, snails or plants are dispatched Monday to Friday via Royal Mail for fast, reliable delivery. Livestock, in particular live fish and invertebrates, are dispatched Monday to Wednesday only, using an approved overnight courier, to avoid weekend delays and ensure safe and timely delivery.

You will receive a tracking number by email when we begin processing your order for shipping. The selected courier will provide updates on delivery only through their tracking page.

During colder weather, heat packs are added when needed. Livestock orders are carefully packed in insulated boxes to help maintain a stable temperature throughout transit.
