Blood Fin Tetra (Aphyocharax anisitsi) is a small, vibrant fish known for its striking blood red fins and silver body. Our bloodfin tetras for sale grow to around 5cm and are a popular choice for community aquariums due to their peaceful nature and active swimming habits.
Location
The Blood Fin Tetra is native to South America, specifically found in the rivers and streams of Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil. They thrive in warm, slightly acidic water, which mimics their natural environment.
Diet
As an omnivore, the Blood Fin Tetra enjoys a varied diet that includes high quality flake foods, pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms.
Care
This species is easy to care for and does well in peaceful community tanks. Blood Fin Tetras prefer water temperatures between 22 and 28°C and need stable water conditions with gentle filtration to thrive. Keep them in groups of six or more, and keep the tank covered, as they can jump.
Habitat
In the wild, these fish inhabit slow flowing waters with plenty of vegetation. To replicate their habitat, provide a tank with live plants, soft substrate, and gentle water flow to create a natural environment.
Breeding
Breeding Blood Fin Tetras is possible in a well maintained aquarium. They are egg layers, and the female will scatter eggs on plants or other surfaces. After spawning, remove the adults to protect the eggs from being eaten.
