White Male Betta Fighting Fish (Betta splendens) is a striking male betta with a pure white, almost platinum body and long, flowing halfmoon fins. Our white betta fish for sale are hand picked males that grow to around 6 to 7cm, and their clean colour stands out beautifully against dark substrate and green plants.
Location
Bettas are native to Southeast Asia, where wild fish live in calm, shallow waters such as rice paddies, slow flowing streams and marshes. White and platinum bettas are captive bred colour forms and do not occur in the wild.
Diet
Bettas are carnivorous and need a protein rich diet. Feed small amounts of good quality betta pellets once or twice a day, with occasional frozen or live foods such as bloodworm, brine shrimp and daphnia.
Care
Keep your white betta fish in water between 24 and 30°C, with a heater and gentle filtration, as long fins struggle in strong flow. Never keep two males together. A male betta can live on his own or with small, peaceful tank mates that won’t nip his fins. Keep the tank covered, as bettas can jump.
Habitat
In the wild, bettas live among dense vegetation in still water. Recreate this with plenty of plants, a cave or other hiding spot, and broad leaves near the surface where he can rest.
Breeding
The male builds a bubble nest at the surface and guards the eggs and fry until they swim freely. Breeding needs a separate tank, and the female should be removed after spawning.
Give him somewhere to hide with our grey stone betta cave and feed him Hikari Betta Bio-Gold pellets, or see our Black Dragon male betta and the rest of our male bettas. Buy more and save, with multi-buy discounts from 2 bettas.
